How much does a concrete driveway cost in Ocala?
Driveways price on square footage, thickness, and how much work the ground needs before anything gets poured, and in Marion County that last item is rarely nothing: sugar sand has to be rebuilt and packed, and the grade has to move a lot of water quickly. As a starting band, driveway work generally runs $8 to $14 per square foot ahead of tear-out and base prep. Tear-out of an old slab, a longer run, or a turnaround for a trailer all move the figure. We price it after seeing the site, never a number over the phone we can't stand behind.
How thick does a driveway need to be?
Four inches handles ordinary cars and light trucks. We go to five or six where heavier vehicles, trailers, or an RV are part of the picture, which in this county comes up often, and we thicken the apron where the drive meets the street.
How soon can I drive on it?
Foot traffic usually after a day or so, vehicles generally after about a week, and we give you the actual date for your pour rather than a rule of thumb. Heat and humidity both change the curve, so the date comes from the conditions the slab was poured in.
Can you pour over my existing driveway?
Sometimes, but it is usually the wrong call. An overlay inherits every problem underneath it, and if the old slab moved because the sand under it was never compacted, the new surface will follow it down. We look at the existing slab and the base and tell you honestly whether an overlay makes sense or whether tear-out and replace is the better spend.
Why does the edge of my driveway keep sinking?
That is a base and water story, and it is common on sandy ground. Runoff that concentrates along an unsupported edge washes fine sand out from under the slab, and the edge follows. We rebuild and compact the base out past the slab line, then grade so water leaves the driveway instead of running along it.
Do you handle long farm and acreage drives?
Yes. Long runs on acreage are ordinary work in Marion County, and they bring their own questions: where the water crosses, how a trailer turns, and where the drive needs extra thickness. We walk the whole run before pricing it.
